Air Conditioning Cleaning, Check and Safety Inspection

Air Conditioning preventive maintenance allows you to ensure your AC is ready for a hot summer.

Imagine taking an airplane that you know was not inspected before flying. Or how about taking your entire family on a car trip without having your vehicle checked by a professional first?

The same logic holds for your HVAC air conditioner. Regular preventative maintenance is the best way to ensure trouble-free operation and peak cooling performance. Pre-season air maintenance is also essential—it can help avoid an air conditioning failure in severely hot weather when your cooling unit needs it most and keep your energy bill from getting out of control.

You can contact our company today to schedule an appointment with one of our HVAC pros to get your air conditioning system ready and in the best condition. Aircor Air Conditioning and Heating provides priority service and special discounts for customers who have an HVAC annual maintenance and service agreement. The Comfort Club is the premier preventative AC Air Conditioning maintenance program. It will ensure that your cooling unit runs as efficiently as possible and allow us to prepare it for a hot summer.

When you call Aircor to schedule an AC tune-up, we will perform the following tasks:

• Inspect air conditioning unit for proper refrigerant level
• Inspect the AC unit base pan for restricted drain openings—remove obstructions as necessary
• Inspect cooling condenser coil and cabinet
• Inspect the air conditioner fan motor and cooling fan blades for wear and damage
• Inspect AC compressor condition and associated tubing for damage
• Clean or replace air filters (when the client provides replacement air filters)
• Inspect the conditioned airflow system (ductwork)—check for leaks
• Monitor HVAC air conditioning system starting characteristics and cooling capabilities
• Listen for abnormal air conditioner noises
• Search for the source of unusual ductwork odors
• Measure temperature rise and adjust airflow as needed to improve condensing unit energy consumption
• Monitor HVAC cooling system for correct line and load volts/amps
• Monitor air conditioning cooling system operation per manufacturer’s specifications
• Provide AC air conditioning system operation report and recommend repairs or replacement as necessary
• Inspect control box, associated controls/accessories, wiring, and connections. Controls may include contactors, relays, circuit boards, capacitors, sump heat, and other accessories. All control boxes and electrical parts should be checked for wear or damage.

Air Conditioning Tune-up Facts

An air conditioning tune-up can help you keep your system in good shape and prevent future problems and unwanted costs.  You could maintain your cooling system at peak performance by having Aircor Air Conditioning and Heating, Inc. do annual pre-season check-ups. Checking your cooling system during the spring helps you to get a more flexible schedule, while during summer, we booked most days, so it’s best to check the cooling system before hot weather hits.

 THE DIRTY FACTS

  • A poorly tuned air conditioner can double operating costs and reduce comfort levels.

  • If the problems leading to air conditioning compressor failures were corrected in a timely manner, as much as 80% of all compressor failures could be eliminated.

  • If an air conditioner happens to be undercharged by only 10%, your operating costs can increase by almost 20%.

  • A dirty evaporator, condenser, and blower can increase air conditioning or heat pump electrical usage by 50% or more.

  • Just 1/100th of an inch of dirt or film on an evaporator coil can reduce its efficiency by 5 percent.

Clean Facts

  • Reduce monthly utility bills – a properly maintained air conditioner uses less energy.

  • Increase equipment life – a properly maintained air conditioner lasts longer.

  • Reduce repairs – adequately maintained air conditioners have fewer and fewer costly repairs.

  • Healthier and Safer – adequately maintained air conditioner will be safer and contribute to a healthier environment.

Time for an Air Conditioning Tune-Up: Learn Why

HVAC air conditioning tune-ups are necessary to keep your air conditioning humming. They should be performed twice a year, particularly in the spring, before summer hot and humid days arrive.

If you’ve been lax about scheduling an air conditioner tune-up, you could be caught unaware in the middle of a heatwave when your air conditioner has to work its hardest to keep your home cool. If it’s dirty, neglected, and straining to cool your home, a breakdown is not surprising.

Before you find yourself in the middle of an air conditioning crisis and to ensure your air conditioner works efficiently, here are some signs you can be aware of when your air conditioner is showing signs of strain and threatening to break down:

  • If you’ve been operating your air conditioning unit day and night and not getting relief from the heat, check one of the supply registers by putting your hand above it. The chances are that the air will feel warm. This indicates that your air conditioner is under-cooling your home or maybe not cooling it. If you find the air is cool enough but the airflow is weak, this means cool air can’t spread throughout your home. Two reasons could cause the problem: a leaky duct or a worn-out filter.

  • Do you find the air conditioning is shutting on and off too often? We’re talking about a span of a few seconds. When this occurs, the air conditioner cannot remove excess moisture, leaving you with humid and stifling air. The constant turning on and off causes more wear and tear on the air conditioner components.

  • Are you feeling too hot in one room and too cold in another? Your air conditioner might be the cause, in addition to poor insulation, direct exposure to the sun, or windows that let in too much air.

  • If you discover an outdoor air conditioner part that looks like it is leaking, the cause could be an obstructed or damaged drain tube. Although not considered a grave problem, the longer you delay getting it repaired, the more likely you will develop a mold problem.

  • If you’ve had your air conditioner for several years, you’ve become acquainted with how it should behave. Any deviation from the usual sounds of its operation should be a red flag that you need a tune-up sooner rather than later. Typical sounds of your air conditioner malfunctioning are squeaking, shrieking, scraping, or some sound that hasn’t appeared. Irregular sounds demand you schedule an appointment for an air conditioner tune-up immediately before a serious problem develops.

  • If you are becoming aware of musty odors from your air conditioning, mold is growing in some unknown part of your air conditioner. If you smell sharp or burning odors, the cause might be burnt-out wire insulation. The only way to address this problem is to call for an air conditioning tune-up. The HVAC air conditioning repair technician will know how to rid the air conditioner of the odors and repair whatever has caused them.

  • If you’re finding yourself needing to dust more frequently, it could be that a dirty and under-maintained air conditioning unit is at the root of it. When dirt and dust have been allowed to accumulate on the air conditioning unit parts, the air blower will blow the built-up dust into your air. An HVAC air conditioning repair technician can come out and thoroughly clean all the air conditioning parts, which will have the air conditioner running again.
